Sharon “Shay” May
Sharon (Shay) May, Owner and director of A Shay Productions Company, grew up in Los Angeles California where she trained in jazz, ballet and modern dance. She received the Beth Spicer Memorial Dance Scholarship from Mt San Antonio College to continue her dance career. She has choreographed for competition high school dance teams and was assistant coach of the the Mt San Antonio cheer and dance squads. Shay is a former dancer with the Los Angeles Laker Girls and was also a guest choreographer for the team.
One of her first and most memorable experiences was singing our national anthem at the LA Forum then later at the new Staple Center in LA in front of over 17,000 fans. Shay continued singing joining the R&B singing group Sistah Style performing the dance single remake of ”Pillow Talk” in local LA clubs but the group later disbanded. She has appeared on both MTV and the Soul Train music awards and music videos with such artist as LL Cool J and Brandy. Working with some of the industry’s top choreographers in LA’s “choreographer’s Carnival” like Johnny Smith, Fatima, Keith Young and Wes Veldink adds to Shay’s dance resume. Shay was also a dancer on the Warner Bros. movie “Space Jam” working with the NBA mega star, Michael Jordan. For several years Shay traveled the world performing in “Broadway” style shows as singer/dancer and company manager for Anita Mann Productions on the Holland America Cruise line. She later moved to Nevada to perform in the award winning and one of the longest running shows in Las Vegas, Legends in Concert. There she was a singer dancer and line captain for the show. She also choreographed for the Las Vegas show as well as in Branson, Myrtle Beach, and Atlantic City.
Shay then moved to Lock Haven, PA with her husband continuing her career performing in productions Elvis Live, the Tina Turner Tribute show which traveled around the US she was also a featured act in Osaka Japan. She started teaching dance fitness classes at Woolrich for the employees then in 2009 Shay started her own production company and began Dance Fitness classes for adults in Lock Haven and Williamsport. Shay recently returned from New Hampshire where she worked with the successful “Michael” tribute show at Canobie Lake Park. With over 25 years of experience in the dance industry Shay is very happy to continue her teaching career with the dance studio! This is Shay’s 4th year with the studio!
